This Thanksgiving was a quiet one. We often go to Colorado Springs to be with Jason's family, but it didn't happen this year...I'm really not sure why. Hy, Anne, and Sophie were in Vegas with Anne's family this year and Rach, Doug, and Gavin are coming out for Christmas.
Today was pretty stress free...my Mom made a lot of things the day before and my Dad invited his Aunt Doreen and her "foster kids" over, but they couldn't come til 5pm so we had all day to get it done.

You all know how apprehensive I can sometimes be about "strangers" and I wasn't too sure how the evening would turn out. It was sooo much fun! Raymond and his wife, Heather, and sister, Christina, were so nice and very easy to talk to and Great Aunt Doreen is just sweet as can be. After dinner I helped Mom clean up and the rest played billiards in the basement. When the pool games were over everyone came upstairs and ate pie whilst playing Catch Phrase, Team 1 (my team of course, tee hee) cleaned Team 2's clock three times in a row! Poor Doreen kept getting "buzzed" as soon as she got the game passed to her ( it reminded me of playing w/ Becki, bad timing = no fun!)
Words can not express how thankful I am for my family; for their love and generousity. I'm thankful I made new friends out of relatives that I didn't know. I am so grateful for the Gospel; I could go on and on, but I won't....Happy Thanksgiving!

Sweet Charity
Saturday night my Branch did a Thanksgiving Feast and Charity Auction to raise money for Sub-for-Santa. My friend Kimmi came along and we had a great time. I made a Christmas centerpiece to auction off and I bid on and won a really cute Fall cake in the silent auction! Pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting, yum! Also, got to know a few more ladies in the Branch so that was nice.
Part of the auction was live and there was an item up for bid that for some reason Kimmi felt compelled to bid on! It was a double date that promised to be "fun, fun, fun!" They had the gentlemen stand up and we didn't know either of them, but I recalled talking to one of them before and he seems kinda....weird...so I told Kimmi to stop...but she kept bidding. I did the "cut it" signal by running my hand across my throat and she looked at me and her face lit up and she hoisted her paddle into the air and bid once again! Going once, going twice, sold!!!!! Kimmi looks up in surprise...who me?!!?! Yep a lovely dbl date with one possible weirdo for the price of $65! I was so ticked off, I told her I wasn't going cause it wasn't my bright idea. Of course I relented later because she's my pal and "it's for the children" (think of the children!). We found the guys and Kimmi gave them her #; so I should have something interesting to write about shortly.

Regina Spektor

Tonight I went with my Sis-in-Law, Anne, to see Regina Spektor at In The Venue. It was a night of adventure. I went over to her house after work and we had dinner, played with Sophie, and then left for the show. We didn't know who the opening band was so we decided to go an hour later than showtime.
We got downtown and drove around for probably 20min trying to find the stupid place! We found the address, but Club Sound was where The Venue was supposed to be. We drove around the block and pulled into a pay parking lot to ask some girls who looked like they were going to the same show and they had no idea where it was either. And get this...neither of us had our cell phones!!!!! Neither of us wanted to carry purses so the phone got left at home ( I thought she had hers and she thought I had mine.) Soooo we had to drive around looking for a pay phone so we could call Hyrum and have him map quest it for us. We stopped at a gas station Anne was familiar with (since she lived downtown for a few years) and when she went to get change for the phone (did you know pay phones cost $0.50 now?!!?) she asked the clerk. The clerk told her it was exactly where we'd driven to, so we went back, parked and just started walking...we found it down around the corner on an unlit street with a rinky dinky sign in front.
We got there just in time! Regina had just taken the stage and the place was packed...we wove our way thru the crowd and ended up going into the bar area to get a better view, if you could call it that...we were by the stairs, but at least people weren't running into us. It was a great show, Regina sounds great live and looked so cute, totally 40's retro!
