About an hour before Women's Conference last night, I got a phone call from my friend Hollie (she was my teacher at UCC and my boss at CMI) asking what I was doing that evening. I could tell she was in a pinch by the tone of voice and let her know I was going to the Conference and then had no plans. She and her Hubby were supposed to have a kid free weekend up in Park City. Her brother was supposed to watch her daughter, but their kids were sick so that wasn't gonna fly. She asked if I'd be willing to drive up to PC and spend the night at a condo and then watch Delanie at 7am while they went on a hot air balloon ride. I didn't have to think twice about it, I told her I'd hit the road as soon as I could.
Got up to PC around 9:30ish and we stayed up late catching up. I think the last time we saw each other was at lunch a month or so ago. We ate cookies and drank tons of water and chit chatted til about 11p. Dennis came in and said it was time for bed. Hollie said she'd call around 6a. I walked next door to my own 1 bedroom condo and settled in for the night. I turned the volume on my phone all the way up and tried to sleep. Ohhhhh my gosh! The freakin mattress was so hard it was like sleeping on a boulder! I tossed and turned all night long! I think part of the sleeplessness was worrying that I wouldn't hear her phone call too.
The phone rang @ 7a, they had overslept and needed me now! So I threw on my flip flops and headed over in my PJ's. They hustled out and Delanie and I watched Handy Manny and played, shared an Eggo waffle, read a few books, and then took a snooze. She is such a good little girl! She didn't fuss the whole time they were gone...and that's really good cause this was only the 3rd time she'd ever been around me. It made me feel good, that I have friends that trust me and know I'll take care of their babies!
Hollie and Dennis got back and we all packed up our stuff and headed out for lunch. While they were packing, Hollie asked how I slept...now a polite person probably would've said "Oh just fine", but me....uh uh, I go and tell them how crappy the bed was. Hollie turned around and said "See Dennis! I told you, the so and so's said it was awful too! You need to get the lady to buy a new mattress". Hey ya know you're good friends with someone when you can tell the truth and they don't bat an eye.

Hoootie hoooo!
Sophie is now in a "big girl" bed and Anne got the cutest owl decor for her room. I wanted to do something to commemorate this milestone and found a really cute, easy stuffed owl pattern online. I spent a few hours today and whipped up my first stuffed toy since 7th grade home economics class (you'll live forever in my heart gray pound puppy!)

Labor Day Speed Racer!

I joined an LDS Singles group on Facebook that a guy in my Branch started and tonight we all went to Boondocks. I went with my friend Kimmi and this was the first activity we've gone to. We both were a little nervous, but we met a really fabulous girl named Sheri and hung out with her and this guy Dennis that we met there. We rode the go carts, played mini golf, laser tag and video games and then rode the go carts 2 more times before closing. I had a blast! It was fun meeting new people and just talking with the people in the singles group....we all had orange wrist bands so we knew who was "in". After the go carts we decided to go eat at IHOP and when I got in my car to drive I realized after a minute or 2 that I was still driving like I was in a go cart taking the corners really sharp and had to reset my brain! Only a few people from the group came to IHOP and one of the guys was from WA state, he mentioned he was from Ferndale and I thought that sounded really familiar. I asked him if that was near Blaine/Semiahmoo (forget how to spell it) and it is...I then remembered that's the town my parents will attend church at when they move up there. Small world eh?!?!!?
