The Bees

The Branch I attend went to a Bee's baseball game. Kimmi and I rode Trax down to the ballpark, got our hot dogs and Philly cheese steaks lay out a blanket and had a good time watching the game. I did more socializing then game watching, but it was fun to be outside, getting to know people in the Branch and of course eating cookie dough ice cream out of a mini baseball hat!
It was Military Appreciation day so after the game there was a fireworks show. It was beautiful and painful all at once. Let me explain; there was ash coming down on us from the fireworks and Kimmi was freaking out cause she said it was gonna burn a hole in her baseball jersey. I told her it was ridiculous cause they wouldn't be hot any more and as soon as I finished saying that a hot ash fell in my eye! Ahhhhhhh! Boy was that a surprise...just laying there on my back watching the sparkles and mocking my friend and I get the corner of my eyeball burned!

Memorial Day

"We cherish too, the Poppy red
That grows on fields where valor led,
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never dies."
~ Moina Michael

Memorial Day Part 2

In the afternoon Hy, Anne, and Sophia came over to go swimming at the neighborhood pool. When Soph was younger she loved the pool, but for some reason now she doesn't like to be in the water (yet she loves bath time)!?? Instead of making laps in the pool she made them around the pool. She snagged some strangers pool toys and walked around talking to everyone who was laying out. People are such suckers for blonde's with big blue eyes : )

Later, Hy and Anne's friends Dan and Marin and their little boy Dylan came over for a BBQ. Dylan is a year older than Soph and she loved teasing him. We had them hug when they first got there and then she kept grabbing the back of shirt and following behind him. She had a big grin on her face and he was trying to run away crying! Dan said he should get used to it cause girls were going to make him cry for the rest of his life.

After dinner, Sophie was tucked in bed w/ Grandma standing watch while Hy, Anne, Kimmi, and I went to see "Terminator Salvation" (which was awesome! I love me some Christian Bale!)

Fun Friday!

I spent Friday with Hy, Anne, and Sophie. It was a nice relaxing evening after a looooong week. We had Panda Express and Soph enjoyed throwing the chow mien noodles all over the floor. After dinner we went outside for a bit to enjoy the lovely weather.

Soph has a thing for rocks...she loves to carry them around, so Anne started a little collection for her. There is a bucket of rocks on the patio and when they go out side Sophie picks out 2 and carries then around clicking them together. It's so stinkin cute! So while Sophie was having rock time Hy and I played catch with a baseball and a Frisbee...amazingly I caught most of them (for those who know me well, you know I have really crappy hand eye coordination, or maybe it's the fact that I'm so nervous about getting hit in the face I psych myself out!) and Anne sat and watched us all play.

After bath time and story time, the grown ups had popcorn and watched "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" We all agreed it was a very good show. Then we sat and reminisced about the good old days visiting the Grandparents in St. George, the boys (Jas and Hy) taking the big blue van for joy rides, and me ruining the running boards on the van! Good times, good times!

"Fond"due Memories Made

Last night we had our monthly "girl" get together and had delightful chicken salad croissant sandwiches, veggies, chips, and for dessert....chocolate fondue! Yum! There is just something about dipping various delights in chocolate, which makes said delights even more delightful! It can't be said enough, time with the ladies in the family is always a joy!

Role Call: Sheila, Me, G'ma Faye, Gina, Colleen, Sabrina, Mindy & Cooper, and Natalie ( I think that's everyone...if I missed ya, a thousand pardons I have a crappy short term memory!)

For those ladies in the family that couldn't make this month's gathering (you were missed) we are thinking of taking sack lunches to a park so kidlettes can come too! (We know it's gonna be harder once school is out for the summer). My Mom or I will keep everyone posted.

Mother's Day

"Mother, who willingly made that personal journey into the valley of the shadow of death to give us birth, deserves our undying gratitude. One writer summed up our love for mother when he declared, 'God could not be everywhere, and so He gave us mothers.'..."
~ Thomas S. Monson

I have the most caring, giving, faithful mother in the world, just ask anyone who's met her and they will agree! Thanks for all you do and for all you put up with! (case in point the picture below of your youngest son!)
I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!
"Look what I can do!", exclaimed Hyrum

"G'pa what the heck is my Daddy doing?!?!?", asks Sophie

*sigh* "That's my husband", says Anne

33 years young

Ahhhh! I turned 33 today! I did some celebrating yesterday by going to see the new Stark Trek movie with Mom, Dad, and Kimmi. It was really good and funny to be in a theater full of "Trekkies" who yelled and cheered and clapped throughout the show.

After work I came home and G'ma Faye, Mom, Dad, and I enjoyed delicious steaks and baked potatoes. Hy, Anne, and Sophie were supposed to join us, but she's getting her molars right now and isn't a happy camper. :( After dinner we had a "Strawberry Paradise" ice cream cake from Coldstones (man, I love that place).

Birthdays are a good reminder of how much you are loved and boy am I loved! I received birthday greetings via cards, Facebook, phone calls, and text messages. I'm so grateful to have so many caring and considerate people in my life. I love you all, you made getting 1 year old a little bit easier.
